Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers Provide Significant Support in 2024

About 3,000 pro-life pregnancy centers across the United States delivered over $452 million in medical, educational, and supportive services along with supplies in 2024, according to a recent report.

The Charlotte Rosier Institute (CLI), the research and education wing of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, shared findings this week about the impact of 2,775 pregnancy centers nationwide during the past year. The report, titled “Pregnancy Centers: Meeting the Situation with Unwavering Care,” was based on a survey conducted by these centers throughout all 50 states.

Executive Director Karen Czarnecki noted that despite shifting decisions surrounding abortion, these centers continue to offer reliable, professional care to women and families. There’s been a noticeable uptick in customer visits, which CLI highlighted as a positive indicator of the centers’ efficacy.

“The improvement in customer satisfaction is clear evidence of the meaningful difference these centers are making,” she added. “It’s crucial for pregnancy centers to keep expanding their services and support, standing by women, men, and families as they navigate these significant life choices.”

Some other important points from the report include:

  • Pro-life pregnancy centers welcomed over 1 million new clients, equating to each center having a new visitor daily throughout 2024.
  • Approximately 80% of centers provide free or low-cost medical services, supported by a team of more than 10,000 medical professionals.
  • In-kind assistance reached more than $116 million, marking a 48% rise since 2022.
  • In the past year, 77% of these centers offered post-abortion support and 29% provided abortion pill reversal (APR).
  • Customer satisfaction rates jumped to 98%.

The report comes after numerous attacks on pregnancy centers and pro-life organizations in the period following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the 1973 ruling that established a constitutional right to abortion.

Critics, particularly from the Democratic Party and abortion advocacy groups, have labeled pregnancy centers as “fake clinics,” alleging they use misleading tactics to dissuade women from abortion. Some states are even taking steps to challenge these centers, with certain lawmakers pushing to limit their ability to offer abortion referrals or APR services. Notably, pregnancy centers outnumber Planned Parenthood facilities by a margin of 15 to 1.

CLI’s report asserts that, despite the pushback from pro-abortion advocates, pregnancy centers remain committed to their mission. “The real community care really happens in the daily operations of these life-affirming clinics, which have been making a difference with limited resources for years,” remarked Daniel White from Heartbeat International, as cited in the report.

This report was developed in collaboration with leaders from various organizations, including Care Net, Heartbeat International, and the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates. CLI has been publishing its Pregnancy Center Report since 2017.
