Tragic Shooting in Arizona Parking Lot
One person was fatally shot, and three others, including two children, were killed when gunfire erupted in a parking lot in Arizona on Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. local time in a business parking lot in south Phoenix, involving a sedan and an SUV. Phoenix Police Sergeant Brian Bower mentioned during a press conference that there was an altercation between the two vehicles, which then stopped in the lot.
According to Bower, the conflict escalated into a physical fight, and shots were fired afterwards.
The male suspect was alone in the sedan, while an adult man, a woman, and two children were in the SUV. Police reported multiple shots were discharged, resulting in the deaths of all four individuals in the SUV.
Bower noted that the man in the SUV died at the scene, while a woman and two children were transported to a hospital, where they remained in critical condition.
The suspect, not yet publicly identified, stayed at the scene until officers arrived and was subsequently taken into custody after receiving treatment at a hospital.
As of now, police have not confirmed whether any charges are pending against the suspect. Bower indicated that detectives have not ruled out the possibility of road rage or self-defense being factors, given that there’s no evidence suggesting the individuals were acquainted.
This situation is still developing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
