Trump Comments on Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Political Future
In an interview with NBC News, former President Donald Trump expressed hope that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) could return to politics in the future. He mentioned that it will be challenging for her to regain her political strength after announcing her resignation from Congress on January 5.
“I would love to see it,” he said, noting that she will need some time away at this point.
Greene recently made waves with her resignation statement, which she shared on X. In it, she cited disillusionment with the political landscape in Washington, referring to a “corrupt political complex” that exploits Americans as “pawns” in a cycle of division.
“Every election cycle, Americans are used by the political-industrial complex of both parties to fuel hatred toward the other side,” Greene noted. “And, at the end of the day, nothing improves for the everyday American.”
After her resignation, Trump commented on Greene’s situation, mentioning her ties with Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie, labeling him as ineffective. He reflected on their falling out, acknowledging that Greene’s illness and his refusal to engage further contributed to their split.
Interestingly, Greene, who once strongly supported Trump, has recently disagreed with him on various topics, notably concerning the release of documents connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In response to a reporter’s question about whether he would consider forgiving Greene, Trump appeared perplexed. “Forgiveness for what? We simply had different views. She chose to align herself with what I consider the worst Republican,” he explained, adding that she likely resigned out of concern for her primary prospects.
Throughout their public dispute, Trump has referred to Greene in less than flattering terms, calling her “an abusive lunatic” among other things.
