Cowboys Stage Come-From-Behind Win Over Eagles

Dak Prescott was instrumental in leading the Dallas Cowboys to a thrilling 24-21 victory against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, marking a significant milestone in franchise history.

In the game, Prescott completed 23 of 36 passes for 354 yards, not to mention he threw two touchdown passes and added a rushing touchdown as well. Remarkably, before either team scored, Dallas had already built a commanding 21-0 lead early in the second quarter. With this performance, Prescott accumulated a total of 34,378 passing yards, surpassing Tony Romo to become the franchise’s all-time leader.

The turning point came just before halftime, as Prescott connected with George Pickens for a 1-yard touchdown reception, allowing the Cowboys to head into the locker room with a 21-7 advantage.

The game really turned into two halves. The Eagles, looking like potential Super Bowl contenders, dominated the early play. Jalen Hurts was dynamic, scoring three touchdowns, including a key pass to AJ Brown, and at that moment, it seemed as if the Eagles were on track to win.

However, the second half told a different story. The Eagles faced a barrage of turnovers and struggled offensively, recording six drives that resulted in four punts, a missed field goal, and a fumble. A pivotal Eagles punt during the third quarter set up Prescott for what turned out to be a seven-play, 89-yard drive, concluding with a touchdown pass to tight end Brevin Spann-Ford and bringing Dallas within one possession.

Later, in the fourth quarter, Eagles kicker Jake Elliott missed a long field goal attempt, which the Cowboys quickly capitalized on with a swift three-play, 54-yard drive capped off by Prescott’s rushing touchdown. This tied the game and ignited the momentum Dallas needed.

Prescott continued to rally the team, orchestrating a nine-play, 49-yard drive that finished with a field goal by Brandon Aubrey, sealing the game for Dallas.

This outcome was a heavy blow for the Eagles, who started the game with such promise. Hurts ended up completing 27 passes out of 39 for 289 yards and three touchdowns, with the Eagles’ ground game struggling to find its groove, only managing 63 rushing yards. Saquon Barkley also had a costly fumble that impacted field position.

AJ Brown had an impressive eight receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown, while DeVonta Smith added six catches for 89 yards. Yet, it felt like their efforts in the second half were in vain as the Eagles lost their rhythm.

The Cowboys, who played with a heavy heart following the recent passing of Marshawn Kneeland, improved their season record to 5-5-1. They now sit two games behind the San Francisco 49ers for the final playoff spot in the NFC.

Despite the loss, the Eagles remain atop the NFC East with an 8-3 record.
