HHS Publishes Second Report on Transgender "Treatments"

Last week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released a follow-up report that discusses the medical risks associated with transgender treatments for children. This 240-page document adds to an earlier report published in May. According to the Children and Parents Rights Campaign, it represents “the world’s most comprehensive review to date of evidence and systematic reviews of the benefits and harms of treatments for children and adolescents with gender dysphoria.”

The press announcement indicates:

The report from the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health highlights that the negative effects of treatments like puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries are substantial and often overlooked or inadequately documented.

Dr. Brian Christine expressed concern, stating:

What will we say to young individuals who are unable to have children because healthcare providers have taken that away from them? Our report serves as a critical warning to both doctors and parents regarding the significant risks of attempting to change a child’s sex.

The report indicates: that medical consultations are often led by children, with thorough mental health evaluations frequently minimized or omitted. Some of these assessments could, alarmingly, be as brief as a single two-hour session. Such an inadequate evaluation would be intolerable if applied to other medical procedures, particularly those with drastic outcomes like castration or amputation.

Yet, despite this, many medical professionals have conformed, failing to uphold their ethical duties and suppressing opposing viewpoints.

The testimony of whistleblowers and those who have transitioned back has been pivotal in raising public awareness about the dangers tied to youth gender transitions. Unfortunately, these voices have often been dismissed or marginalized by many advocates in the pediatric healthcare transition field.

Health Secretary Kennedy remarked, “That’s not medical care, that’s medical malpractice.” This issue isn’t confined to just a handful of individuals either. Numerous respected academics and institutions have adopted ideologies that can harm children. Hannah Barnes’ significant book documents how both activists and healthcare professionals rallied the UK’s National Health Service to support subsequent policies related to this matter.

In a similar vein, certain groups in the United States have been accused of fabricating a medical consensus on this topic.

This ideology has been built upon two main claims. First, anyone opposing transgender beliefs has been labeled as “bleeding.” Many parents are left with a troubling question: Would they prefer a dead son over a living daughter? In some states, disobedient children have even been separated from their parents, as highlighted in the HHS report, which contends that the state rather than the parents has engaged in abusive practices.

Second, the assertion that transgender ideology is based on scientific evidence has unraveled. A report last year indicated that gender therapy practices in countries outside the UK are built on shaky ground. The HHS investigation, expanding on this previous work, features contributions from various scientists and academics.

Recently, Kristen Wagoner voiced on social media her concern about her children needing her approval to access basic medications at school. Critics dismissed her claims, but she challenged them, asking for proof. Similarly, after initial criticism of the HHS report, the follow-up has brought to light more substantial evidence.

Wesley Yang pointed out that transgender ideology has advanced through a strategy of censorship and penalty for dissenting views, a pattern of behavior supported by governmental authority to force adherence to untruths. However, a commitment to “following the science” has led to revelations. This report reinforces that truth is on our side—especially when it comes to safeguarding our children.
