Georgia Bulldogs Player Arrested After High-Speed Chase

Niel Daniels, an offensive lineman for the Georgia Bulldogs, has been arrested following a high-speed police chase, which has now led to his expulsion from the team, according to coach Kirby Smart.

The incident occurred on Sunday, and Daniels was subsequently booked into Jackson County Jail in Georgia. He faces three felony charges, including attempting to evade law enforcement, in addition to ten misdemeanors.

In a twist, two of the felony charges stem from child abuse allegations, as his younger siblings were riding in the car during the pursuit. Some of the misdemeanors include reckless driving and speeding.

Reports indicate that during the chase, speeds reached up to 160 mph in a 25 mph zone in Commerce and 150 mph on Interstate 85.

Smart commented, “I haven’t had a chance to talk to him or his family, but obviously he’s no longer with us.”

Daniels’ mother, Brandi Canada Green, was also involved, arrested for allegedly driving another vehicle during the chase. She’s facing a felony charge for evading police and a misdemeanor for obstructing law enforcement.

According to Lt. Cole Edwards, when asked about the chase, Daniels mentioned that he fled because he “didn’t want my mom to get a ticket.” While he managed to escape initially, authorities arrested him once they realized he was a player for Georgia, after contacting the team’s coaches for assistance.

As a redshirt freshman, Daniels played in three games this season, including a victory over Charlotte last Saturday.
