Arrests for Attacks on Federal Officers Rise Three Times in 2025

Increased Violence Against Federal Officers

As President Trump makes his return to the White House, there are alarming reports about rising violence, particularly from the far left, targeting federal law enforcement officers, according to new data from the FBI.

In an exclusive release to Breitbart News, the FBI highlighted a significant rise in arrests related to assaults on federal officers. This tripling of incidents appears to coincide with Trump’s presidency, contrasting sharply with the prior administration under President Biden. FBI Director Kash Patel attributes this uptick to escalating violence from radical groups and notes that Trump’s administration actively supported federal agents, unlike previous administrations.

“The alarming increase in arrests for assaults against federal officers this year compared to the last administration isn’t just a coincidence,” Patel stated in an exclusive comment. He emphasized that Trump’s commitment to supporting law enforcement personnel who work diligently to uphold public safety is crucial. The FBI aims to combat violent crime nationwide while ensuring that any assaults on police officers are met with robust consequences.

The data covers the timeframe from February 1 to November 19 for both 2024 and 2025, revealing a notable rise in arrests year on year. During the final year of Biden’s presidency, there were 193 recorded assaults (known as 89B incidents) and 14 cases of interference with federal officers (89E). In stark contrast, only 55 arrests occurred in that same period in 2024.

However, moving into 2025, under Trump’s leadership, FBI statistics indicate there were 375 more serious assaults (89B) and 56 cases of obstruction (89E) against federal employees. The total number of arrests for this period reached 187.

This latest figure signifies more than a threefold increase over the 55 arrests from the end of the Biden administration.

According to the FBI, the cities with the highest numbers of these arrests include Chicago, Washington, D.C., Phoenix, San Antonio, and Portland. During Trump’s previous term, he mobilized additional federal agents and National Guard troops in Washington to address crime. Questions are now arising about whether he will take similar action in other cities, especially in Chicago. Federal officials have intensified immigration enforcement measures to remove criminal illegal immigrants in various areas across the country.

“The FBI takes pride in collaborating with our federal, state, and local partners to achieve significant results in battling violent crime and restoring safety in America,” FBI spokesman Ben Williamson remarked. He reiterated the FBI’s commitment to pursuing those who attack law enforcement personnel simply for doing their jobs.
