Allegations of a Cover-Up by Fauci Regarding COVID-19 Origins
In a recent episode of “Pod Force One,” FDA Commissioner Marty McCurry accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of orchestrating a significant cover-up concerning the origins of COVID-19 during his tenure as a leading public health official. McCurry, who previously taught at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, claimed that Fauci made considerable efforts to dismiss the theory that the virus leaked from a laboratory in China, yet this was largely overlooked by peers in the medical community.
“It’s evident that most people, especially within the medical establishment I belong to, aren’t aware of this,” McCurry stated. He emphasized Fauci’s involvement in a “massive cover-up” regarding the virus’s origins. He further noted, “Whether he funded the experiments that led to the virus isn’t definitive, but his participation in the cover-up is certain.”
Fauci, who also played a role as Chief Medical Adviser under President Biden, was granted a broad pardon by the former president in December for actions dating back to January 1, 2014, up to the date of the pardon.
McCurry suggested that the pardon connected to Fauci’s alleged cover-up aimed to overshadow the significant disagreements between Fauci and others regarding pandemic guidance. He stated, “[O]nly recently has Fauci escalated the use of science as a form of political propaganda,” referring to a commissioned article that allegedly misled about the virus’s origins at Fauci’s request.
In early 2023, the House Oversight Committee uncovered evidence indicating that Fauci had commissioned and approved a scientific paper entitled “The Proximate Origins of SARS-CoV-2.” This document, produced in February 2020, aimed to disprove the lab leak theory.
After eight weeks of silence, Fauci participated in a White House briefing alongside President Trump, citing that paper as proof negating the lab leak theory. Notably, this paper emerged shortly after a conference call he had with the paper’s authors, discussing the possibility of a lab leak in Wuhan.
McCurry remarked on Fauci’s extensive efforts during January and February. He elaborated that Fauci was busy arranging meetings and that the notes from these gatherings indicated a consensus among virologists that the virus may have emerged from a lab. Yet, shortly afterward, they authored a letter contradicting that theory, some of whom subsequently received substantial funding from Fauci’s agency.
“It’s not rocket science; it’s fairly clear where this originated,” McCurry expressed passionately.
Additionally, he criticized Fauci and Collins for methodically weakening Obama-era regulations on gain-of-function research, which permitted federal financing of contentious genetic modifications of viruses. “They exploited bureaucratic avenues,” McCurry stated, adding that Fauci’s handling of gain-of-function studies could be classified as “essentially deceiving Congress.”
McCurry lamented the alleged cover-up as an “American tragedy,” noting his surprise that none of his colleagues from Johns Hopkins were aware of these events. He concluded by saying, “I was astonished that my peers knew so little about its origins and the extensive efforts by Fauci and Collins to downplay them.”
McCurry further argued that Fauci and Collins effectively diminished the potential link between the Wuhan lab and COVID-19 due to a combination of loyalty in the medical community and the influence of research funding, declaring, “They’ve reached almost a saintly status and hold immense power.”
Fauci has not publicly responded to the allegations made by McCurry.
