George Pickens Takes a Jab at Eagles Fans
George Pickens had quite the day on Sunday, first leading the Dallas Cowboys to a thrilling 21-point comeback victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. But it didn’t stop there—he also took a shot at the Eagles fans and their beloved food.
Following the Cowboys’ 24-21 win, Pickens seemingly targeted Philadelphia supporters in the comments of an Instagram post by notable Eagles fan Jilly Da Kid. Allegedly, he posted something along the lines of, “I’m a weak Philadelphia fan,” before removing it. The comment also included a reference to the Eagles’ famous sandwiches, which certainly didn’t sit well with fans.
In terms of performance, he was instrumental in the comeback. After the Eagles jumped to a 21-0 lead, Dallas was stuck in a scoreless streak. Pickens shined with nine receptions, totaling 146 yards and achieving a touchdown. His 1-yard score right before halftime brought the Cowboys back to 21-7. Later, with just under a minute left, he caught a crucial 24-yard pass, setting up a game-winning 42-yard field goal from Brandon Aubrey.
Though the Cowboys now hold a record of 5-5-1 and seem unlikely to secure a playoff spot, Pickens’ contributions shifted the Eagles from the top seed in the NFC to the No. 2 seed, disrupting their postseason strategy.
After the game, it seems Eagles fans tried to cope with their disappointment by indulging in their iconic cheesesteaks. However, it’s hard to say if they could enjoy them fully with Pickens’ taunts lingering.
This season, he has proven to be quite the asset in Dallas, joining forces with star receiver CeeDee Lamb. Currently, Pickens leads the team with 67 catches, accumulating 1,054 yards and eight touchdowns—he’s even managed to surpass 130 yards in four consecutive games.
As he heads into the offseason, there’s uncertainty about his future. Scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, Pickens mentioned he hopes to stay with the Cowboys, expressing, “I’m glad to be back.” Still, negotiations for a long-term deal might be tricky given Dallas’s financial commitments.
Originally drafted by the Steelers, his time there was noted for both memorable plays and moments of immaturity, leaving fans wondering what the future holds for him.
When discussing the potential for a franchise tag, he acknowledged the uncertainty, saying, “We just have to wait until it comes.” It appears the next chapter for Pickens and the Cowboys is still to be written.
