Arrest Warrant Issued for Miss Universe Co-Owner

The Southern District Court in Bangkok has issued an arrest warrant for Jakapong “Ang” Jakrajutatip, a co-owner of the Miss Universe pageant.

Jakrajutatip, a transgender man, had faced fraud charges and was released on bail earlier this year. However, he missed a court appearance that was scheduled for Tuesday. Reports indicate that he did not inform the court about his absence and is now considered a flight risk.

The court hearing has been postponed until December 26th.

According to court documents, Jakrajutatip and his company, JKN Global Group Public Co. Ltd., are accused of defrauding Raweewat Mashyamadolu by selling business bonds to him in 2023. Mashyamadolu claims to have lost approximately 30 million baht, which is around $930,362, from his investments.

In 2022, JKN obtained rights to the Miss Universe pageant from IMG Worldwide LLC. Shortly after, they sold 50% of their stake in the event to Legacy Holding Group USA, a company owned by Mexican businessman Raul Rocha Cantu.

JKN has denied any allegations claiming Jakrajutatip liquidated company assets and fled the country.

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand previously accused Jakrajutatip of falsifying financial statements for the company in 2023. After these allegations surfaced, he resigned from his positions at JKN in June, although he remains the largest shareholder.

Currently, Jakrajutatip’s location is unknown. It’s also notable that he did not attend the recent 74th Miss Universe pageant held on November 21st in Bangkok.

This year’s event faced a series of controversies, including the removal of an organizer for reprimanding Miss Mexico, which resulted in several contestants walking out in protest. Additionally, two judges resigned due to accusations of bid rigging, and Miss Jamaica had a severe incident, falling off the runway and requiring hospitalization.

In Thailand, Jakrajutatip is quite a well-known figure.
