Lane Kiffin’s Future at Ole Miss in Question

As the final regular-season game against Mississippi State approached, a pressing question lingered among Rebels fans and the wider college football community: would Lane Kiffin remain at Ole Miss or seek opportunities elsewhere?

Following the Rebels’ 38-19 victory, Kiffin didn’t provide any clear answers during the celebration.

When asked about his decision, he simply said, “No, I haven’t decided yet.” He added, “I think I’ll need to pray a lot to figure it out tomorrow. But for now, it’s about enjoying this moment with the players. I told them last night they were going to win the 11th game. I just want to watch and enjoy.” A smile crossed his face, reflecting the joy of the moment.

Kiffin has emerged as one of the top coaching candidates in college football, with several prominent positions open. His name has been associated with the vacancies at LSU and Florida, both programs recently parting ways with their head coaches.

This season has been exceptional for Kiffin and the Rebels, marking the most wins in a single season in the school’s history—11 victories, a feat he has accomplished twice. He stepped into an Ole Miss program that struggled with a 4-8 record prior to his arrival and has since led the team to at least 10 wins in four of his six seasons.

Despite his success, Kiffin has faced scrutiny for previous abrupt departures, notably leaving Tennessee for USC after just a year. Should he choose to leave Ole Miss, it’s likely he would once again find himself under a harsh spotlight.

With the College Football Playoff field opening in less than two weeks, Kiffin is expected to make his decision soon.
