Norris’ Championship Path
Norris still has a shot at winning his first championship in tomorrow’s race.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is the last race on the schedule, offering 25 points to the winner. To secure the title, Norris needs to lead Piastri by at least 26 points, or 25 points if certain tiebreaking conditions fall in his favor.
To break it down simply: if Norris wins, he’d get those crucial 25 points, increasing his total significantly. If he wins over Piastri in second place, for example, he’d rise to 421 points while Piastri would sit at 392. That’s quite the gap.
In a scenario where Norris finishes second, things could get trickier. If both he and Piastri place second, they’ll each acquire 18 points, but Norris needs a top finish to ensure the championship remains his.
Currently, it’s crucial for Norris to finish ahead of Piastri and not get overtaken by Verstappen. If Norris fails to score any points, Piastri could clinch the race, which would shift him back into the lead.
Verstappen’s need is clear: he must finish above Norris to keep his championship drive alive.
