Hilary Farr, a familiar face from HGTV, recently felt compelled to respond to troubling health rumors that had emerged online. These rumors were sparked by AI-generated images that suggested she was seriously unwell.
At 74, Farr took to Instagram on Thursday to counter what she called “unspeakably false” claims about her health. She shared a screenshot showcasing the baseless report that alleged she was receiving cancer treatment.
“Tadaa,” she began in a video, standing in front of a digitally altered background. “I’m alive. I’m very, very, very, very much alive and well.” It was a clear message to the doubters.
Addressing the AI-generated content, she questioned, “Is this real?!”
The misleading report featured various images of Farr, one notably depicting her in a hospital gown and wearing an oxygen mask, accompanied by the caption: “She may not make it in time.”
Another line from the false report stated, “Hilary Farr’s cancer doctor has given a shocking update on her health: ‘She may never appear on TV again.'” It was clearly sensationalized.
“So, look at this. It’s really, really bad,” the host of “Love It or List It” commented in her video. She hoped viewers wouldn’t take such fabrications seriously and recognized them as utterly fake.
“Well, I’m here to prove it. So, just checking in. I’m okay. I hope you’re okay too,” she concluded, offering reassurance to her followers.
Fans quickly filled the comments with support, expressing relief over her wellbeing. One fan said, “Thank God you’re healthy and thank you for setting the record straight!” wishing her and her family a joyful holiday season.
Another commenter added, “Good to see you! This AI stuff is getting old and out of hand! So glad you’re working on it! Enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend.”
In a prior revelation from 2021, Farr had shared her journey battling breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with in 2014. Reports suggest she has been in remission since 2022.
“I’m so happy you’re doing well!” another Instagram user chimed in, expressing that it would be heartbreaking to learn the rumors were true. “Rock on, Hilary.”
