Cory Booker Ties the Knot with Alexis Lewis

Senator Cory Booker married his fiancé, Alexis Lewis, in Washington, D.C., not long after announcing their engagement via social media.

Over the weekend, the 56-year-old New Jersey senator participated in an interfaith ceremony, which included blessings from both a pastor and a rabbi, attended solely by close family. Lewis practices Judaism, while Booker identifies as Christian.

The exact location of the event remains private.

Just a couple of days later, they made it official at the U.S. District Court in Newark, where Booker, previously well-known as mayor, had his parents serve as witnesses.

Following their legal marriage, the couple treated themselves to Italian pastries and a vegan chocolate chip cookie dough cake, reflecting Booker’s plant-based lifestyle.

As reported, their introduction happened in May 2024 through a friend known for matchmaking.

At the time, 38-year-old Lewis was residing in Los Angeles and went on a blind date with Booker during a trip to visit family in D.C. The date turned out to be quite lengthy, lasting over five hours. Afterward, Booker managed to convince her to miss her flight so he could see her again the next day.

The second date was, in Booker’s words, “even more magical,” involving a dinner at a Newark tapas eatery and a viewing of the Broadway show “Suffice.” Their night ended with a first kiss outside the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.

The couple officially moved in together in April, along with their shepherd mix dog named Cook.

Booker popped the question on August 24 in Kauai, Hawaii, right after a group of local musicians played Mariah Carey’s “Dream Lover,” which is Lewis’ favorite song.

As the performance concluded, Lewis expressed her long-held wish to hear that song played at her wedding. To which, Booker responded while kneeling, saying, “Hey, honey, this is the song that’s playing during your proposal.”

Lewis shared her feelings about her relationship with Booker, who is currently serving his second term in the Senate. She described it as life-changing, saying, “My girlfriend and I are saying, ‘Change your flight, change your life,’ because that’s exactly what happened.” Reflecting on her loneliness before, she expressed disbelief about ever getting married, but noted that their connection is a reason to celebrate at this point in their lives.

Booker, who has yet to marry previously, was recognized as one of Town & Country’s Top 40 Singles back in 2013.

Lewis, originally from D.C., earned a bachelor’s degree from New York University and an MBA from Cornell. She has a background with former Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and is presently the Director of Investments at Brasa Capital Management, a real estate investment firm based in Los Angeles.
