Cooper Flagg Makes History with 35 Points
On Saturday night, a significant achievement was marked when Cooper Flagg led the Dallas Mavericks to victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
Flagg scored an impressive 35 points, shooting 13-of-22 from the field, and also contributed with 11 assists and eight rebounds. This game was particularly notable as he became the youngest player to reach the 35-point milestone in NBA history. Previously, LeBron James held that record, scoring his first 35 points as an 18-year-old for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2023; Flagg is actually five days younger than James.
“He’s just 18, but he plays like a veteran,” Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd noted in a post-game interview. “He managed the offense, attacked the rim, and was composed when it mattered most.”
During the game, Flagg had 21 points by halftime, which played a crucial role in a 15-2 run that helped the Mavericks secure a 33-28 lead in the second quarter. His previous high was 29 points scored against the New Orleans Pelicans on November 21.
This game marked Flagg’s 20th NBA appearance, and he is currently averaging 16.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.
Despite this thrilling performance, the Mavericks are still struggling overall, with this win bringing their season total to just six victories.
