Arkansas Razorbacks Appoint New Head Football Coach

After a tough 2025 season that ended with a 14-point loss to Missouri State, the Arkansas Razorbacks have made a significant change in leadership. On Sunday, the University of Arkansas announced that Ryan Silverfield would be their next head coach.

Previously, Silverfield was the head coach of the Memphis Tigers, where he spent six years. Taking over before the 2020 season, he guided the Tigers to four bowl games, winning each one. While Memphis didn’t have the strongest season this past year, they managed to win eight games and reached No. 22 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. Notably, he also led the team to two 10-win seasons, which is quite impressive since Mike Norvell’s time at Memphis.

Now, he’ll be tasked with rebuilding the Razorbacks.

The University of Arkansas had previously fired Sam Pittman after just five games this season. Bobby Petrino was briefly brought in, but he couldn’t turn things around. Pittman had been with the Razorbacks from 2020 until this year, leading them to nine wins and a notable eighth-place ranking in 2021. Unfortunately, the team’s performance declined afterward.

Since Petrino’s last tenure from 2008 to 2011, the Razorbacks haven’t won at least ten games, and that era ended amid controversy.

Now, Silverfield becomes the fifth head coach for Arkansas since Petrino’s departure, and many are curious to see how he will improve the situation moving forward.
