Bo Nix Impresses NFL Fans with Grounded Touchdown Pass
On Sunday night, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix caught the attention of NFL fans when he threw a touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton while on the ground.
The situation unfolded on a second-and-10 from the 11-yard line, with the Washington Commanders’ defense applying pressure. Nix momentarily appeared ready to scramble but then spotted Sutton making a last-minute run into the end zone.
Sutton managed to catch the pass, allowing the Broncos to secure a 13-7 lead going into halftime.
Broncos head coach Sean Payton praised Nix’s improvisational skills during an interview with NBC’s Melissa Stark just before the halftime break. “One of the things he’s great at is extra play, and that was a perfect example,” he noted, recognizing the angles at which Nix threw the ball. He added, “I think it’s essential to find that balance in the second half to get the running game going.”
The first half wasn’t exactly an offensive showcase for Denver. Nix completed 15 of his 24 passes, accumulating 146 passing yards and that touchdown to Sutton. The team could only muster 39 rushing yards, with Nix himself contributing five of those.
During the match, seven different Broncos receivers made catches, with six of them making at least two receptions. Coming into this game, Denver, with a strong 9-2 record, was already one of the top teams in the AFC. Nix had recorded 2,421 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and eight interceptions prior to kickoff.
Washington, on the other hand, aimed to bounce back from recent losses, though they were without key player Jaden Daniels. In a season full of ups and downs, Nix’s play certainly stood out and added excitement for Broncos fans.
