Changes in Oxford as Lane Kiffin Heads to LSU
In a somewhat expected twist, Lane Kiffin is making his way to Baton Rouge to take up the role of head coach at LSU, signaling a shift that will noticeably impact Oxford. The community seems ready for these changes, with many viewing them positively.
It looks like defensive coordinator Pete Golding is poised to take over as the new head coach at Ole Miss, and excitement is in the air among players, as suggested by some audio that surfaced from a recent team gathering.

However, not everything is going smoothly for fans of the Rebels.
Kiffin seems set to leave Ole Miss with more than just his departure; he’s also bringing along offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. and his brother Chris Kiffin, who serves as a defensive analyst. This exodus is certainly a blow to the program, but it’s good to see Ole Miss leadership responding quickly to mitigate the impact.
On the flip side, the situation with the 2026 recruiting class is a bit concerning.
Things took a turn on Sunday when four-star safety Trey Collins, one of the first recruits to react to Kiffin’s exit, announced he’s decommitting from Ole Miss.

Shortly after, four-star wide receiver Corey Barber also withdrew his commitment, which—well—wasn’t great news either.

Given that Ole Miss hasn’t typically been a magnet for top-tier recruits, seeing two four-star players decommit so quickly is definitely tough on the program.
