Jessie J’s Journey Post-Cancer
Jessie J is making strides in her recovery after facing cancer challenges.
This past weekend, the singer known for “Price Tag” shared a confident selfie on her Instagram Stories, striking a pose in a stylish black one-piece swimsuit, showing off her fit physique.
The 37-year-old, whose full name is Jessica Cornish, included a caption that read, “Post-baby, post-cancer.” She humorously added, “This Aries mom is starting to get spicy.”
Back in June, Jessie revealed her early-stage breast cancer diagnosis, announcing her plans for a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.
During that time, she described herself as an “open book,” sharing the news with her followers through an emotional Instagram video. She referred to cancer as a “nuisance” but emphasized her preference for the term “early stage.” Jessie planned to undergo surgery after her performance at the Summertime Ball in London on June 15, joking, “That’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job.”
Since then, she’s taken to social media to keep her fans updated on her health journey and recovery.
“Cancer sucks,” she expressed in her initial post about her diagnosis, but she also conveyed her determination and hope for the future. In a recent post from August, she shared that seven weeks had passed since her surgery, revealing that recovery isn’t a quick process but still expressing love for music and life, wanting to cherish each moment.
Jessie mentioned that she anticipates another surgery later this year, maintaining a positive outlook. “It may not look like what I had planned, but that’s life. Things change,” she noted. “We either panic and get angry that this isn’t what we planned, or we adapt.”
The singer, who welcomed her son Skye in May 2023 after a miscarriage in 2021, reflected on the challenges of recovery, especially as a mother. “Recovery is never quick or easy. Mentally it was the most difficult time for me,” she said, acknowledging her struggles while balancing motherhood. She shares her child with basketball player Chanan Coleman, whom she has been with since 2021.
