During an appearance on “The View,” Jonathan Roomy, known for his role in “The Chosen,” shared that he’s received messages from lifelong atheists who found Christianity through the show. He mentioned that their relationship with Christ added depth to his character.
“The Chosen” dramatizes the life of Jesus, featuring Roomy alongside Elizabeth Tabish, Shahar Isaac, Noah James, and Paras Patel. Co-host Ana Navarro posed a question about whether Roomy could have embodied the role without his spiritual background. Roomy replied, emphasizing that his connection with Christ truly informs his portrayal, saying, “What I bring to this role is my relationship with Christ… it made me want to love people.”
Sunny Hostin later asked for examples of the show’s impact on viewers’ lives. Roomy recounted looking through random Instagram messages and finding two individuals who had previously been uninterested in faith but became curious about the Bible after watching the show. They eventually began attending church before converting to Christianity.
Addressing the challenges of filming the sixth season, which depicts the Crucifixion, Roomy discussed the emotional toll it takes. “You have to delve into the truth of the character, and portraying such intense suffering requires a deep understanding of its emotional and psychological implications,” he explained. Reflecting on his experience, he noted that he sought God’s guidance during these scenes and felt profoundly impacted by the process.
Season 6 of “The Chosen” is expected to premiere in 2026.
