Early Monday morning, thieves made off with about $1 million worth of goods from a luxury men’s clothing resale store in Soho, frequented by celebrities like Drake and Mark Wahlberg.
According to police, the four-person crew managed to get into 4G, an exclusive shop on Spring Street, around 4:45 a.m. They reportedly left in a sedan filled with high-value items.
Tom Macari, the brand ambassador for the boutique, mentioned that the well-prepared group “burst in through the window” and seemed to know exactly what they were doing. “They came in, there were guards outside, and a getaway driver,” he added.
He couldn’t help but draw a comparison to a famous heist, likening it to an incident at the Louvre.
Back in October, a group of robbers on scooters had made headlines for stealing $100 million worth of jewelry from the Paris museum, some of which belonged to Napoleon III.
Macari reported that the thieves specifically targeted unique items and were gone in under five minutes. “They were in and out in four and a half minutes,” he noted, mentioning that the NYPD arrived just over a minute later.
Surveillance footage captured the group as they broke in and grabbed various clothing pieces and accessories, filling up bags quickly.
4G specializes in high-end men’s fashion, with many pieces priced over $1,000. Macari confidently stated, “There are probably 10 other people in the world who can curate and put together clothing items like this.”
Store owner Vincent Ferraro has previously called his boutique a “curator and personal shopper to the stars,” having attracted a diverse roster of celebrity clients. In an interesting incident, he was once arrested for inciting a riot over a pair of $15,000 Chrome Hearts jeans.
