Morgan Wallen’s Breakthrough in 2025

2025 has been a significant year for Morgan Wallen. Based on Spotify data shared with its users, his album “I’m the Problem” topped the U.S. Top Albums list, while another album, “One Thing at a Time,” secured the ninth spot.

The U.S. Top Albums list reflects other artists as well, with Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short and Sweet” at sixth place and Taylor Swift’s “Life of a Showgirl” coming in at eighth.

Interestingly, Wallen also ranked third among the top U.S. artists of the year, just behind Swift and Drake. Notably, The Weeknd and Zach Bryan follow him, coming in at sixth and eighth respectively. Moreover, “I’m the Problem” landed at eighth on the list of Top Global Albums of 2025.

While Swift’s “Life of a Showgirl” didn’t make the global albums’ list, it still peaked at number eight in the U.S., helping her rise to number two on the global top artists list of 2025.

Reflecting on her album, Swift mentioned how it was a dream to create a project that allowed her to express a playful and flirty side of her personality, which she felt was significant to who she is.

Wallen’s banner year follows a difficult phase in his life, particularly after an incident in April 2024, where he was arrested for throwing a chair off a balcony in a Nashville bar. He later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges related to reckless endangerment in December 2024. Initially, he denied the act but was recorded apologizing to law enforcement, expressing regret for the troubles caused.

Despite these challenges, Wallen managed to successfully complete his 10-city “I’m the Problem” tour from June to September. Looking ahead, he has garnered seven ACM Award nominations and five CMA Award nominations in 2025, which is quite an achievement, especially with his nomination for Entertainer of the Year at both award shows.
