The British sports presenter, Laura Woods, expressed she was “okay” following a shocking collapse during a live broadcast on Tuesday. The incident occurred while she was covering a women’s football friendly match between England and Ghana.
Woods, 38, unexpectedly fell forward, but fellow presenters, including former Arsenal players Ian Wright and Anita Assante, quickly caught her. The broadcast then went dark for a moment; when it returned, Katie Shanahan, a former England women’s field hockey player, had taken over the coverage.
Updating fans on social media later, Woods shared that medical professionals suspected she had come down with a “strange virus.” “It was a little weird,” she mentioned. “Sorry to worry everyone, I’m fine. The wonderful paramedics said I probably just needed rest and hydration,” she noted in her Instagram Stories.
Woods added that she felt embarrassed about the incident happening on live TV but expressed her gratitude towards her ITV colleagues who were supportive during the ordeal. She also apologized to her fellow presenters for the situation.
Her fiancé, Adam Collard, who gained fame from Love Island, also reassured fans through a post, stating that Woods was fine and in the care of the right people. “Thank you for your kind messages,” he said.
Woods has made a name for herself as an award-winning sports broadcaster, widely recognized for her coverage of the Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, and women’s international matches.
