Unpaid Debt Surfaces for Rep. Jasmine Crockett

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat from Texas, is facing an unpaid bill of over $3,000 related to a lien on her luxury condominium in Dallas, according to official records. It seems she “continues to default and refuse” to settle this debt.

The Westside Condominium Association issued a bill totaling $3,047.79 on April 11, 2024, which prohibits her from selling the condo until the payment is made in full. This information was initially reported by FOX News.

Documents reveal that Crockett has not fulfilled her payment obligations, indicating a recurring issue with settling her dues to the association.

She purchased the condo in 2014, and it is even listed as her residence on voter registration records. The property boasts “spa-like features,” including a pool and clubhouse, situated within a gated community, as detailed by Homes.com.

Despite attempts to reach out, Crockett’s office has not responded to requests for a comment on the situation.

Currently, members of Congress receive an annual salary of $174,000. Recent financial disclosures indicate that Crockett holds student loan debt between $15,001 and $50,000.

The 44-year-old representative has recently sparked speculation about a potential run for the Senate in the upcoming year. Crockett mentioned to CNN’s “State of the Union” on November 23 that she is still contemplating a campaign, stating that the polls suggest she could have a shot at winning.

She has hinted at making a decision by Thanksgiving, but there hasn’t been an official announcement yet. The deadline for submissions is December 8.

Interestingly, news of her unpaid lien comes shortly after public backlash regarding her spending of approximately $75,000 in campaign funds on various luxury hotels and transportation across multiple cities, including New York and Las Vegas.

Some of these expenses include stays at high-end hotels, like $5,326.52 at the West Hollywood Edition in Los Angeles and $1,173.92 at the Times Square Edition in New York. Moreover, she withdrew around $50,000 from her campaign funds for security, citing threats she had received.
