Chris Pratt, the well-known actor, is urging his fans to reflect on the true essence of Christmas this year, referring to Jesus as the “greatest gift” ever bestowed upon humanity.
In a recent video promoting the Christian meditation app Hallow, Pratt, famous for his roles in Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy, shared this sentiment while guiding listeners through a popular faith-centered book, Hasty and Merciless Elimination by John Mark Comer.
In a light-hearted clip, Pratt cheerfully mentions, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year: Christmas, joy, family time, presents, cookies,” while playfully showcasing a dessert. However, he quickly emphasizes that his true affection for Christmas goes beyond those joys. “The real reason I love Christmas is so much more than that. We celebrate the greatest gift God has ever given us, His Son, Jesus Christ,” he continued, also encouraging his followers to check out the Hallow app.
“Together, we can focus on what really matters in this special season,” he noted.
Pratt went on to share that he often reflects on specific Bible verses, particularly mentioning Psalm 46:10. He shared, “‘Be still and know that I am God’ are words I recite in my head every day. Our lives move so fast, especially at Christmas, so I encourage you to take a moment and consider the true reason for the season. It’s definitely not the cookies.”
Pratt has become one of Hollywood’s more outspoken Christians. He expressed, “Faith…is the best part of my life. I feel like I’ve been given this platform and I’m called to share it,” earlier this year.
He also mentioned that speaking out about faith can sometimes require a level of boldness in the entertainment industry. “I consider it a risk to be in this world,” he said. “I don’t care enough about politics to jeopardize my career for that, but I’m willing to stand up for Jesus, even at a personal cost.”
Though many recognize his face from major films, Pratt’s voice is also familiar due to his work in animated movies like The Lego Movie, The Lego Movie 2, and the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie.
