Police responded to an incident at the Atlanta home of former NBA players Iman Shumpert, who played for the Knicks and Nets, involving a dispute with a woman.

A police report indicated that the woman alleged Shumpert had struck her; however, witnesses provided differing accounts. The incident occurred on November 26 and was reported by TMZ.

The woman involved was identified as Joanna Donezeur.

Officers arrived on the scene around 4:37 a.m. to find Shumpert outside with his suitcase.

According to the authorities, the argument stemmed from Shumpert allegedly talking to another woman while in the presence of Donezeur. She claimed that Shumpert had forcibly removed her from the room by dragging her toward the stairs, as noted in both the police report and body camera footage.

In the footage, a voice believed to be Donezeur’s questioned, “Is that legal?… to have your hands and feet pulled?” She expressed a desire to file charges, claiming Shumpert had “beaten” her.

Another woman present told the police that Shumpert had asked Donezeur to leave the room twice and that he “gently” grabbed her wrist to guide her outside, without displaying any aggression.

As per the report accessed by TMZ, officers found no visible injuries on Donezeur, and based on witness statements and the absence of evidence, no charges were filed.

In a statement, Shumpert noted that he had repeatedly asked guests to leave after observing what he believed was personal property damage. He mentioned, “Police were invited in and spoke to various witnesses about the situation.” He claimed that after the officers evaluated everything, they instructed Donezeur to leave multiple times. Ultimately, she left only after being escorted outside by the police.

Donezeur requested a rideshare to leave, but police arrived before the service got there, and she departed eventually. In the recorded footage, she is heard saying to Shumpert, “I’ll see you in court and on Instagram in the morning,” as he exited the residence.
