2026 FIFA World Cup to Feature Unique Best Player Trophy
The upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup will introduce a specially designed Best Player trophy for each of the tournament’s 104 matches. This custom trophy is being created by Victor Solomon, collaborating with Michelob Ultra and FIFA. Solomon showcased the trophies for the first time on a recent episode of “Fox & Friends.”
In an interview, Solomon expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “No bulls—, this team and this opportunity has been one of the most fun creative collaborations I’ve ever had.” It’s a refreshing take on sports accolades, especially considering his past work designing trophies.
Previously, Solomon crafted the Larry O’Brien Trophy awarded to the NBA champions and also designed a Championship Michelob Ultra bottle that was celebrated during the NBA Finals.
“I’ve had the special privilege of being part of milestone moments in sports, and working with Michelob Ultra has been a blast. We basically said, ‘Let’s get creative and think outside the box.'” Solomon added, noting the excitement of collaborating on an international scale.
The new trophy features an hourglass shape, reminiscent of the World Cup trophy, topped with a 26-degree slope symbolizing the tournament year. The 104 facets on the trophy represent the number of matches.
There’s a fun twist to its design as well. Solomon wanted to make sure the trophy resonated with athletes and fans alike. “I’ve heard from athletes about their desire for a trophy that doubles as a cup—something they can drink from post-game,” he shared. The idea is that after a hard-fought match, players could enjoy a Michelob Ultra, creating a relatable connection with fans celebrating at home.
While the celebratory aspect is clear, Solomon also acknowledges the effort and dedication that goes into these moments. “When speaking with partners and the league, I emphasize that this trophy needs to reflect the immense commitment athletes pour into reaching this summit in their careers,” he noted.
As the 2026 World Cup approaches, it promises not only thrilling matches but also unique experiences for players and fans through these handcrafted trophies.
