Thursday Night NFL Matchup: Cowboys vs. Lions

Week 14 of the 2025 NFL season kicks off tonight with the Dallas Cowboys visiting the Detroit Lions, both vying for playoff positions in the NFC. The Lions are currently favored by 3 points, with an over/under set at 54.5. The Cowboys managed to defeat the Chiefs last Thanksgiving, keeping their wild-card hopes alive, while the Lions faced a setback against the Packers, losing by seven at home—that holiday didn’t go as planned for them.

Here’s a look at some of the top players to consider for this evening’s game.

Jahmil Gibbs, RB, Detroit Lions (FLEX $13,000, CPT $19,400)

Gibbs didn’t have his best game last week against the Packers, gaining 68 rushing yards on 20 attempts and catching three of four targets for 18 receiving yards, totaling 10.1 fantasy points. It was a bit unexpected, considering his usual performance. But, you know, he did what he could in a tough loss.

As a Pro Bowler, he’s tied for third in total touchdowns this season, which is no small feat. That scoring capability is a big reason he’s averaging 21.4 fantasy points per game. The Cowboys’ defense has struggled this season, so it makes sense to rely on Gibbs tonight.

Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys (FLEX $12,200, CPT $18,300)

Prescott really stepped up against the Chiefs last Thanksgiving, throwing for 320 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in a nail-biting 31-28 victory. That performance likely kept the Cowboys’ hopes for the postseason alive. Since the bye week, he’s thrown for 942 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions, scoring at least 24 fantasy points in each of his last three games.

The projected points suggest it could be a high-scoring game, and given that the Lions have struggled against the pass, Prescott might exploit that opportunity.

Jameson Williams, WR, Detroit Lions (FLEX $9,800, CPT $14,700)

Williams had a solid showing last Thursday against the Packers, catching seven of 10 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown, making him one of the top fantasy wideouts that week. It’s quite a change from his zero receptions just a few days earlier against the Giants, so it seems he’s finding his rhythm.

With the Cowboys defense allowing wide receivers to score substantial fantasy points, Williams could have another breakout performance tonight. His ability to gain yards after the catch ranks him in the top tier this season, which makes him a valuable choice for DFS players.

Isaac Tesla, WR, Detroit Lions (FLEX $5,600, CPT $8,400)

Tesla has had limited appearances this season but made his presence known in the Thanksgiving Day game against the Packers, catching two passes for 35 yards, including his second touchdown of the year. Given the injury situation with Amon-Ra St. Brown, it’s possible rookie wideouts like Tesla could get more chances moving forward.

Ryan Flournoy, WR, Dallas Cowboys (FLEX $4,800, CPT $7,200)

Flournoy has been stepping up as the Cowboys’ third receiver, making an impact with three catches for 34 yards against the Chiefs. He had a few solid games last month and could be a sneaky play, especially with the focus on stars like CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.

Malik Davis, RB, Dallas Cowboys (FLEX $4,000, CPT $6,000)

Davis had a remarkable game during the win against the Chiefs, highlighted by a 43-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Since coming off the practice squad a few weeks back, he’s been getting a decent number of snaps and might solidify his role as RB2 behind Javonte Williams. He could be a nice flex option for tonight’s game.
