Paige Spiranac Donates Winnings to Charity
Golf influencer Paige Spiranac recently made headlines, not just for her skills on the course but for her generosity following the Barstool Sports Internet Invitational.
After winning awards ranging between $15,000 and $16,000, Spiranac chose to donate the entire sum to the Cody “Beef” Franke Foundation, as noted by Barstool’s Frances Ellis. Instead of pocketing the winnings, she redirected them towards a noble cause.
This act comes amidst a swirl of cheating allegations making the rounds in social media, a topic Ellis touched on in a recent podcast episode. She described how Spiranac’s charitable gesture emerged during a period of heightened scrutiny within the internet community.
Ellis recounted, “It was quite the surprise when, on the second day, after everyone received their prize money, we learned that Paige had contributed all of it to Beef’s family.”
Beef, the host of Barstool’s “Fore Play” podcast, had unfortunately faced mysterious health issues last October, which led to his untimely passing.
During the tournament, there was some tension on the course. Arriving at the ninth hole, Spiranac seemed to be adjusting the high grass, which gave another player, Marosi Togisara, a better shot. She later expressed her emotions, denying any intent to gain an unfair advantage.
In light of the controversy surrounding her, Spiranac mentioned that she’d received “tens of thousands of death threats.” Such a reality underscores the intense scrutiny athletes face, especially in competitive environments.
