Dozens arrested as New Orleans Operation Catahoula Crunch begins

New Immigration Operation Leads to Arrests in New Orleans

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Thursday that it has apprehended numerous individuals in New Orleans. This comes just a day after the initiation of Operation Catahoula Crunch, a federal effort aimed at tackling criminal illegal immigration.

In a statement, Assistant Secretary of State Tricia McLaughlin emphasized, “Americans should be able to live without fear that violent criminal illegal aliens will harm them, their families, and their neighbors.” She noted that, within just 24 hours, law enforcement had taken down several violent offenders with serious criminal histories including murder, kidnapping, and assault.

DHS shared photos of those arrested, describing them as individuals who are “terrorizing Americans.” These men, all with criminal records, hail from various countries, including Vietnam, Honduras, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.

Profiles of Some Detained Individuals

Among those taken into custody is Binh Van Tho, a Vietnamese national with convictions for serious crimes such as kidnapping, murder, and robbery. Another Vietnamese national, Hung Ngoc Tran, was arrested for sexual assault and child fondling, according to DHS reports.

From Honduras, Carlos Roberto Guardado-Ramirez was apprehended on multiple charges, including domestic violence and driving under the influence. Another Honduran, Jose Raul López-Serrano, has a history of marijuana possession and previous disturbances.

Additionally, Luis Fernando Maldonado-Velazquez from Guatemala was already facing an immigration warrant and had prior arrests linked to vehicle theft. Meanwhile, Freddy Caldero-Caraballo, from the Dominican Republic, was arrested for cocaine possession and public intoxication.

Concerns About Sanctuary Policies

McLaughlin criticized sanctuary politicians, stating that they do not prioritize the safety of American families. She pointed out that such policies often result in the release of illegal immigrants who are suspected of committing crimes. “President Trump and Secretary Noem will stand up to protect American families even when sanctuary politicians won’t,” she said. She urged the public to thank law enforcement officers for their service.

McLaughlin also mentioned that sanctuary policies endanger American communities by allowing criminal illegal aliens to remain free, thus placing DHS officers in peril as they work to apprehend these individuals.

Fox News Digital has sought additional information from DHS regarding the operation.
