Melissa Peterman Discusses Potential Hallmark Crossover with Co-Stars
Melissa Peterman has a creative idea for a crossover featuring Reba. She envisions a collaboration with her co-stars Reba McIntyre and Joanna Garcia Swisher.
In a conversation with Decider, McIntyre pitched some roles for Hallmark movies while chatting with Peterman, who is a judge on the Hallmark Christmas Experience show Looking for Mr. Christmas. Peterman was eager to bring Garcia Swisher into the mix, as she previously guest-starred on the NBC comedy and also had a role on Hallmark’s show If You’re Lucky back in 2012.
“The three of us,” she pictured, “could be connected, like family—three women traveling home together for a vacation, kind of like that.”
Peterman mentioned that she believes McIntyre “would be fantastic” and would likely want to contribute some music to the project.
“I think she’s maybe easing into the Hallmark world a bit,” Peterman continued. “I know the original Reba show aired on Hallmark for quite some time. She’s a fan of Hallmark and probably loves being a part of it.”
Hallmark stars Jonathan Bennett and Tamera Mowry-Housley joined Peterman, with Mowry-Housley expressing a desire to collaborate with her on a film.
“That’s what’s so wonderful about Hallmark,” Mowry-Housley pointed out. “When you meet the stars, you think, ‘I want to do a movie with you,’ and that’s totally doable, right? They interact with each other.”
Bennett likened it to The Avengers, noting how it’s like different combinations of the same people.
Mowry-Housley and Bennett also reflected on their previous associations with Peterman. Mowry-Housley’s brother, Taj, starred alongside Peterman in Baby Daddy, and Bennett’s husband, James Vaughan, guest-starred in the same show.
“I used to attend the tapings frequently. I’m a huge fan,” Mowry-Housley said of Peterman. “Every time she shows up on TV, I have to stop and watch her.”
Peterman agreed, responding, “We have to make that happen,” jokingly adding, “I’ve encouraged him on multiple occasions during this interview.”
