Colton Moore Enters Race for Georgia’s 14th Congressional District

State Senator Colton Moore has officially jumped into the race to succeed Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene in the upcoming special election, presenting an unambiguous anti-establishment choice for voters in conservative northwest Georgia.

Moore will compete for the 14th Congressional District following Greene’s announcement of her resignation, effective January 5th.

“Today, I’m running for Georgia’s 14th District because President Trump needs a fighter in Congress who won’t shy away or be bought out,” Moore stated in a release shared with Breitbart News. He went on to elaborate:

“Two years ago, I was the first elected official in the country to demand the defunding and impeachment of Fannie Willis due to her hunt against President Trump. The establishment, that’s what I call the RINOs, retaliated by expelling me from the caucus, barring my entry to the House floor, and even arresting me for simply showing up to work. But each time they attacked us, we came back stronger and achieved a real victory.”

He added, “Now, we’re taking this fight to Washington. With President Trump back in the White House, we’re going to accomplish what we set out to do—deport all illegal immigrants, drive down gas and food prices, and stop the advance of socialism.”

At just 32 years old, Moore was first elected to the state House of Representatives in 2018 when he was only 24. In 2022, Georgia voters chose him for the state Senate.

Almost immediately, he became a thorn in the side of Georgia’s political establishment.

Moore was expelled from the state legislature in March 2024 for opposing what he described as a “corrupt” former state senator, following reports that the late official had exploited his office for personal profit. In January, Speaker of the House John Burns ordered law enforcement to arrest Moore during his attempt to enter a joint conference.

Now, he aims to bring his anti-establishment message to Washington.

Moore remarked, “I’ve already taken on the swamp in Georgia and come out on top. With President Trump leading the charge, I’m ready to do it daily in Congress.” He added, “As the top conservative in Georgia, my campaign and my track record prove I am 100% pro-Trump, pro-life, and pro-gun. Northwest Georgia sent me to Atlanta to take action, and now I’m asking you to help me bring that same energy to Washington.”

Greene, who announced her resignation in November, leaves a gap that could hinder Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson at a crucial moment, especially with government funding set to expire on January 30. Democrats may seize on this situation to undermine Trump’s economy as the midterm elections approach, necessitating every available Republican vote to avoid another shutdown.

Governor Brian Kemp is expected to announce a special election for March. Greene mentioned she does not support any candidates for her role.
