Liz Wheeler Discusses Concerns Among Young Men at College Events
Liz Wheeler, a host on Blaze TV, traveled to various college campuses and private events this fall. During her visits, she noticed a recurring question from students.
Wheeler mentioned that these inquiries varied significantly from those posed in more formal settings. “One question stood out: why do the mass deportations under the Trump administration seem to be moving slowly?” she recounted.
She pointed out that the reasons behind these questions are not as straightforward as many critics suggest—it’s not simply about racism.
“These young folks care about this issue because it’s about more than just illegal immigration; it’s about how mass immigration affects their own lives,” she explained. She observed that many of these young men appear to lean more conservative than the millennial generation, often described as having “red blood.”
“They seem to embrace traditional values more strongly. They want to get married, start families, become religious, and buy homes. They’re looking for the stability that earlier generations sought,” she added.
However, young people today encounter obstacles. Earning a college degree doesn’t seem enough anymore; they feel pressure to secure jobs that allow them to support families.
But the reality is often disappointing. “Even those who manage to find decent-paying jobs struggle to save for a home. Once, they could purchase a starter house in the Midwest for about $150,000 to $175,000, but now the same homes cost upwards of $375,000,” she noted.
Wheeler remarked that many young men feel powerless in this situation. They see that undocumented immigrants occupy homes, and they suspect this contributes to inflated housing prices that they simply can’t afford.
She compared this concern to what Charlie Kirk used to address on college campuses, recalling how he listened to students rather than just lecturing them. “Charlie wasn’t there merely to criticize; he engaged with their issues and aimed to provide solutions,” she reflected.
