Chargers bring Omarion Hampton off injured reserve for game against Eagles on Monday night

Omarion Hampton Returns to the Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers have announced that running back Omarion Hampton is being activated from injured reserve ahead of their Monday Night Football game against the Eagles.

Hampton, a 22-year-old rookie and first-round pick from April’s NFL Draft, has been out since suffering an ankle injury during the Week 5 game against the Commanders.

Before his injury, he had standout performances, racking up over 100 yards from scrimmage in both Week 4 against the Giants and Week 3 against the Broncos. In the loss to Washington, he managed 44 rushing yards and 26 receiving yards before getting hurt.

This season, Hampton has accumulated 314 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, along with 20 receptions for 136 yards.

In Hampton’s absence, Kimani Vidal stepped up as his backup, delivering a solid performance last week, where he rushed for 126 yards and scored a touchdown against the Raiders on 25 carries.

Additionally, the Chargers are set to reactivate running back Hassan Haskins and defensive lineman Otito Ogbonnia from injured reserve for the pivotal MNF match at SoFi Stadium.

On another note, quarterback Justin Herbert is still expected to play, even after undergoing surgery for a fracture in his non-throwing hand, which he injured during the game against Las Vegas.

As it stands, Los Angeles holds an 8-4 record, placing them as the No. 6 seed in the AFC playoff race. The Eagles, who share the same record, are leading the NFC East.
