Trump’s Campaign Plans for Midterms
During a recent appearance on “The Mom VIEW,” White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles hinted that President Donald Trump is preparing to hit the campaign trail next year in anticipation of the 2026 midterm elections. She mentioned that many voters, particularly those with lower turnout rates, tend to support Trump. Wiles expressed a sense of cautious optimism, saying, “I’m not completely mad at him yet, but he’s going to campaign like it’s 2024 again.”
While Trump may not resonate with every voter, Wiles described him as a “change-maker” for those he does appeal to, noting that he is quite effective at getting people to vote.
Concerns About Engaging Trump Supporters
Wiles pointed out that Trump has already started fundraising for the midterms—right after the last election. “He’s building up a huge war chest to help these people, and he’s going to use it,” she remarked.
Earlier this year, Trump assumed office following a successful Republican campaign that resulted in control of the White House, House, and Senate.
Potential Risks Ahead
However, there are concerns regarding the party’s future power; Republicans might lose their majority in one or both legislative chambers come 2026. In the 2018 midterms, under Trump’s first term, Republicans added to their Senate majority but lost control of the House.
