Authorities Disclose Cause of Death for Mitt Romney’s Relative Following Parking Garage Fall

Tragedy Strikes the Romney Family

On Tuesday, coroner’s officials confirmed that Carrie Romney, who was the sister-in-law of former Republican Senator Mitt Romney, died by suicide.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office stated that the 64-year-old passed away from “blunt force trauma,” with the official ruling attributing her death to suicide. Investigators discovered her body at the bottom of a parking structure in Valencia on October 10, suggesting she may have jumped from a five-story height.

Carrie had been married to George Scott Romney, aged 81, a former senator from Utah and governor of Massachusetts. Reports indicate that the couple was in the midst of a contentious divorce in the months leading up to her tragic death.

Authorities have not provided further details about the incident, and there are no indications of foul play. After several weeks of investigation, the coroner’s office has closed the case.

Mitt Romney spoke briefly about the situation, expressing deep sorrow. A representative for him said, “Our family is heartbroken by the loss of Carrie, who brought so much warmth and love to our lives.” The family is requesting privacy during this challenging period.
