McCoy Calls for Eagles to Fire Offensive Coordinator
Following a disappointing 22-19 overtime defeat to the Chargers, a Hall of Famer from the Eagles is demanding a change in the coaching staff. Former running back LeSean McCoy has pointed the finger at offensive coordinator Kevin Pattullo, attributing the team’s troubling performance directly to him. In a bold statement, McCoy indicated that if Pattullo remains, he would request the Eagles retire his jersey number, 25.
On the Speakeasy podcast, McCoy firmly stated, “If he comes back, I’m leaving the Eagles.” This assertion shocked some, especially when co-host Emmanuel Acho noted McCoy’s HOF status.
McCoy didn’t hold back as he elaborated on his feelings, saying, “I’ll tell Mr. Lurie, it’s either me or Kevin.” He passionately suggested that if Pattullo is not dismissed, then new players should take the field in his place.
Humorously, he added, “If Kevin’s still there, give the kicker my number. He might be complaining about it.” The Eagles are currently struggling offensively, with three consecutive losses, including the hardest game of quarterback Jalen Hurts’ career.
In the recent game, Hurts threw four interceptions and fumbled, completing 21 out of 40 passes for 240 yards, while the team turned the ball over five times.
Defending Hurts, McCoy refrained from blaming head coach Nick Sirianni, instead focusing on the offensive issues stemming from Pattullo’s strategy.
Over the last few weeks, the Eagles have suffered defeats against the Cowboys, Bears, and Chargers. However, there might be hope ahead as they face the Raiders next, followed by two games against the Commanders.
Among the remaining games, the matchup with the Bills in Week 17 poses the biggest challenge. Currently, the Eagles sit atop the NFC East with an 8-5 record, though Pattullo’s standing seems irrevocably damaged among dedicated fans, particularly after the coaching change to his residence following the Chicago defeat.
