Three Arrested in Drug Case Involving Providence College Students
Authorities have taken three individuals into custody on suspicion of supplying drugs to seven students from Providence College who experienced overdoses at an off-campus gathering, according to police reports.
As reported by WBZ-TV, Providence Police responded to a disturbance on Liege Street last week, discovering four students unconscious in a front yard. In total, seven attendees at the party had overdosed. They were administered Narcan and transported to a nearby hospital, where they were later declared conscious and alert.
During a subsequent search of a residence on Hawkins Street, officers discovered around 20 grams of fentanyl, a significant amount of cash totaling $1,700, and a selection of firearms, including a ghost gun.
Arrested were Angel Williams (33), Patrick Patterson (32), and Kimshely Simoneau (33). Williams and Patterson face multiple drug and firearm charges, while Simoneau is charged specifically with possession of a ghost gun.
Williams and Patterson are currently held without bail, while Simoneau was released after posting a $10,000 bail. Notably, none of the arrested individuals are university students.
“This investigation showcases our department’s ongoing commitment to addressing the dangerous influx of fentanyl and illegal firearms in our neighborhoods,” stated Providence Police Col. Oscar Perez.
He added, “The collaborative efforts of our Drug and Organized Crime Bureau were crucial in removing these hazardous weapons and substances from Providence streets.”
The university has announced plans for its own investigation into the incident. A spokesperson expressed gratitude toward the Providence first responders, as well as the university safety officers, for their quick action in providing life-saving assistance to the students involved.
