Elite Skydivers Set New Record with Massive American Flag

A group of skilled skydivers raised an impressive 3,200-square-foot American flag from a height of 10,000 feet on Pearl Harbor Day in Arizona, achieving a new world record that surpasses the previous mark held by Libya.

This jump is currently under consideration for a Guinness World Record, having eclipsed the October record from Benghazi for the “largest flag deployed during free fall.”

After witnessing the event, retired U.S. Army Ranger Jarrico Denman reached out to Jared Isaacman, an e-commerce entrepreneur and notable figure associated with former President Donald Trump. Denman saw the earlier Libyan jump on social media and commented, “Who’s trying to break this record?” which sparked the initiative.

The team was composed of professionals from Skydive Arizona and Skydive Chicago, featuring notable skydivers like Hall of Famer Luke Nelson, along with veterans Steve Curtis, Nick Kush, and Senator Tim Sheehy (R-Mont.), among others.

The record-setting dive occurred on December 7, 2025, in Eloy, Arizona, a recognized hub for skydiving. The skydivers exited a Vietnam-era Huey helicopter from roughly 10,000 feet, unfurling a flag weighing 170 pounds, which is double the size of the Libyan flag.

Denman highlighted that deploying a flag of this magnitude had never been tried before, indicating there were several uncertainties involved, which made the jump quite tense. Due to its size, only the most experienced team members were allowed to manage the flag during the jump. Denman, Isaacman, and Sheehy contributed to the effort but did not directly handle the flag.

In a reflective moment, Sheehy expressed that he viewed this endeavor as significant, especially with the upcoming 250th anniversary of the nation in 2026. He stated, “I was honored to be part of this incredible team of veterans, SEALs, Army Rangers, and the world’s best skydivers who brought back to the United States the world record for the largest flag parachuted from an airplane.”
