Olivia Nuzzi’s Reaction to RFK Jr. Affair Reports
Reporter Olivia Nuzzi was reportedly “over the moon” about the recent disclosures concerning Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s affair—not because of the scandal itself, but because her relationship with Kennedy, which had been strained, had resumed communication after a period of silence, as noted by her ex-fiancé, Ryan Lizza.
Things weren’t exactly great before the affair news broke. Lizza mentioned that Kennedy had recently wrapped up his presidential campaign and was exploring options with the Trump campaign, but then he vanished from the airwaves, leading Nuzzi to feel anxious and confused.
However, everything changed once the affair became public knowledge. In a detailed installment on the Substack platform, Lizza discussed how Nuzzi, who had left New York Magazine following the affair news, had managed to reconnect with Kennedy behind the scenes.
“According to some people close to her, Olivia is in a fantastic mood lately,” he stated. “The joy seems to stem from the fact that she and Bobby are back in touch.” This was particularly significant given that, prior to this, Kennedy had been essentially ignoring her.
So, friends reported that Nuzzi was thrilled about reconnecting, even if it meant being drawn back into a situation that had its share of embarrassment for her.
Lizza, a former Politico reporter, also shed light on some of the behind-the-scenes drama. He revealed that Nuzzi had collaborated with Matt Dornick, a CNN alum, and her agent Rachel Adler to devise strategies against reporters and to cast Lizza in a less favorable light.
The approach involved a mix of denials, legal threats, and some outlandish fabrications, including claims that Lizza had an affair with a fictitious nanny.
As the situation escalated, several news organizations echoed the story, but Lizza noted that ten outlets, including the Post, opted not to run what he described as Nuzzi’s “falsehoods.”
Kennedy’s national security aide, Gavin de Becker, was also reportedly involved, creating a tense atmosphere that Lizza compared to “villain-level intimidation.” “Olivia’s friends mentioned that she would check in on her periodically to ensure she continued to keep Kennedy’s secrets,” de Becker said.
Interestingly, at one point, Nuzzi shared details of a conversation she had with de Becker with Tucker Carlson, who advised her to be cautious and even offered to send her a shotgun for protection.
Following that, Carlson had dinner with Kennedy, during which they discussed what Carlson described as a sophisticated plan to undermine Kennedy. Carlson had, by then, suggested that Kennedy was facing threats from overseas.
Nuzzi’s situation, as Lizza noted, had led to some wild theories, with Carlson thinking there was a substantial conspiracy at play aimed at discrediting both Kennedy and Trump and implicating Lizza as a minor player in the larger scheme.
In closing, Lizza teased that a friend of Nuzzi’s had warned: “Olivia has talked to Bobby, and he’s getting her involved in some really, really bizarre activities.”
