Woman connected to Michigan coach Sherrone Moore's affair controversy received a significant salary increase while working with him

Employees at the University of Michigan connected to the recently dismissed Wolverines football coach Sherone Moore saw a significant salary increase of 55% in the past year, according to public records.

Moore, who is 39 and a family man with three kids, was let go on Wednesday. This was due to claims of an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member, and he was later taken into custody following an incident in Pittsfield Township, Michigan.

Records indicate that the salaries for these unidentified university employees surged from $58,025 to $90,000 in 2024, without any apparent change in their job titles.

Authorities were called to an apartment complex around 4 p.m. on Wednesday to look into an alleged assault, as stated by Pittsfield County Police. The cost of renting a one-bedroom unit there is about $1,800.

Just under an hour after the police response, the Athletic Director for Michigan State, Ward Manuel, announced Moore’s termination.

The announcement noted that his firing was for cause, following an external investigation that uncovered “credible evidence” of an inappropriate relationship with an employee.

If Moore’s termination holds up, the university might not have to pay the estimated $14.5 to $16 million left on his contract.

On Wednesday evening, around 8 p.m., Moore was wanted by authorities and is currently held in Washtenaw County Jail, awaiting an arraignment scheduled for Friday.

“The situation involving Mr. Moore is still an ongoing investigation by law enforcement, so no decisions about charges or arraignment will occur today,” stated Prosecutor Eli Savitt. “Mr. Moore remains in custody at the Washtenaw County Jail.”

As this investigation is active, further comments are limited, but updates are expected once more information about any potential charges is available.

The Pittsfield Township Police, Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department, and Saline Police Department were reached for their input.
