Elon Musk on God and the Universe

Billionaire Elon Musk has stated his belief that the universe did not come from nothing, referring to God as the “Creator.”

Musk was a guest on the Katie Miller Podcast, where he discussed a variety of topics, including the now-disbanded Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and artificial intelligence.

When Miller, who is married to Stephen Miller, the White House chief of staff, asked him who he respects most, Musk replied, “Creator.” This led Miller to inquire about his views on God.

The founder of Tesla and SpaceX has voiced his thoughts on the growing interest in Christianity in the past. Earlier this year, following the death of Charlie Kirk, he suggested that millions of his followers on X (formerly Twitter) attend church.

“Go to church,” Musk posted, echoing a message from Kirk’s widow, Erica Kirk.

At one point during the conversation, Musk jokingly remarked that he wouldn’t mind going to hell, stating, “Thank you for the blessings, but I don’t care if I go to hell, because if that’s really my destination, then the vast majority of humans who have ever been born will go to hell.” He expressed this sentiment on X last year in response to encouragement from a user to confess.

In a 2024 interview with psychologist Jordan Peterson, Musk described himself as a “cultural Christian,” a term he adopted after it was previously used by atheist Richard Dawkins. He also lamented the decline of Christian culture in Britain amid the rise of Islam.

“I think I’m probably a cultural Christian,” Musk said during that interview. “I was brought up and baptized as an Anglican.”

This year, he has argued that Western civilization would be in peril if it lost its Christian foundations.
