Actress from 'Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' remembered in touching tributes following tragic NYC accident

The family of Wen Alton Davis, known for her role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, shared a heartfelt tribute just days after she tragically lost her life in a car accident in Midtown.

“Wendy had this remarkable way of making everyone feel seen and welcomed. She really engaged with people on their own terms,” her brother-in-law, Gary Hunter, mentioned on Facebook. “Her circle of friends was extensive and truly wonderful.”

He added, “We loved her dearly and were immensely proud of her. The loss is beyond words,” describing her passing at 60 as an “unimaginable loss.”

According to police reports, Davis, a resident of Forest Hills, was crossing Broadway near West 53rd Street around 9 p.m. when she was hit by a black 2023 Cadillac XT6.

She was rushed to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The 61-year-old driver remained at the scene and has not faced any charges.

Davis, who had various supporting roles, also worked as a Customs and Border Protection agent at JFK International Airport and was eagerly anticipating retirement.

Besides her recent appearance in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, she had small parts in shows like Blindspot, Rescue Me, The Normal Heart, and New Amsterdam.

Agent Jamie Harris shared, “She absolutely loved New York, acting, and her colleagues at JFK. Family and friends—she cherished them all.”

Her brother-in-law mentioned that Davis grew fond of the city after moving to it.

“Even though she was born and raised in North Carolina, she became a true New Yorker,” Hunter wrote on Facebook. “Her love for the city was unmatched, and she spent almost her entire adult life there. I’ll never forget how welcoming she was to me when I joined her family. She treated me like a brother.”

He also recalled a recent trip they took together to Iowa with his family.
