Elon Musk Responds to Gavin Newsom’s Comments About His Daughter

Elon Musk recently reacted to remarks made by California Governor Gavin Newsom, who highlighted the strained relationship Musk has with his transgender daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson. Newsom’s office tweeted that Musk’s daughter “hates” him in response to a video where Musk’s political action committee praised Newsom for his record on transgender legislation.

Musk didn’t hold back, countering the governor’s remarks by expressing his love for his son. In a pointed response, he mentioned, “I believe you are referring to my son, Xavier, who is facing serious mental health challenges attributed to a detrimental societal influence.” He added, “I love Xavier very much and I hope he recovers.” Musk also took a moment to highlight his other daughters, Azul, Exa (nicknamed Y), and Arcadia, stating that they hold a strong affection for him.

Wilson, who was previously known as Xavier, filed for a legal name and gender change in 2022. In her petition, she requested to remove the Musk surname and expressed a desire to cut ties with her father, stating, “I no longer live with or wish to have any interaction with my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”

Musk had previously commented about his daughter’s situation, suggesting that she had been influenced by what he described as the “woke mind virus” and claimed she had undergone a sex change procedure at a young age under misleading circumstances.

Wilson has not shied away from publicly criticizing Musk. Following the election of Donald Trump, she indicated her intention to leave the U.S. and has referred to Musk in harsh terms on social media, calling him “cartoonishly evil” and labeling him a “pathetic man-child.”

Since distancing herself from her father, Wilson has pursued a career in media and modeling, including an appearance on the cover of Teen Vogue. However, she has claimed financial difficulties arose after her relationship with Musk ended.
