Midge Peirce Returns to Gotham FC for Another Season

Midge Peirce is set to continue her journey with Gotham FC for an additional season.

After playing a crucial role in securing the league championship against the Washington Spirit last November, she agreed to a one-year deal to stay with the NWSL club.

At 30 years old, Peirce has spent five seasons with Gotham. Interestingly, she was picked ninth overall in the 2017 NWSL Draft by the Boston Breakers.

During the last season, she participated in 23 matches, contributing one goal and one assist in 2025. Interestingly, she returned to the team on a one-year contract last season after a challenging year away due to a torn ACL that kept her sidelined during the entire 2024 NWSL season.

In a recent conversation with Sports Illustrated, Peirce expressed some uncertainty about her future. “I’m still recovering from this crazy year,” she said. “It’s probably the longest year I’ve had in the league, considering I was still coming back from my ACL injury during the preseason. But I think the best offseason is after the championship. I enjoy it because I can just rest and sleep well before heading back to offseason training.”

Throughout her tenure with Gotham, she boasts 16 goals and eight assists, including key contributions during the playoffs. Notably, she assisted the team in clinching its first title in 2023 and earned the NWSL Championship Match MVP award.

Peirce, a Harvard alum, has flourished both on and off the field in the NWSL. This year, she appeared in a Broadway production of “Chicago” and made an appearance on ESPN’s “Manning Cast” during a Giants-Patriots Monday Night Football game shortly after Gotham’s second league championship victory.

Adding to her impressive sporting career, Peirce was also part of the U.S. Women’s National Team that triumphed in the 2022 CONCACAF W Championship. Her professional experience includes two seasons with the Portland Thorns, as she was picked fourth overall in the 2018 NWSL Dispersal Draft.
