Why Nakisa Bidarian decided to support Jake Paul's match with Anthony Joshua

Jake Paul Poised for a Major Fight

Jake Paul is gearing up for a significant match that could lead him to face Mike Tyson, who, at 57, will be competing against a younger Olympic gold medalist.

Nakisa Bidalian, the CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, shared that discussions about a potential fight with Anthony Joshua started back in March. “Jake expressed interest in fighting Joshua then,” Bidalian mentioned. “I always felt he should wait, considering AJ had a long break of over 14 months.”

He added, “If Jake is going to take this leap, now seems like a decent time.”

Despite being favored in nearly all his previous bouts, Paul is currently labeled a +700 underdog heading into this matchup with Joshua, known for his toughness.

“Honestly, I think Jake Paul has a chance to knock out Anthony Joshua,” Bidalian remarked. “But you can’t overlook the fact that Joshua could also take him down. If AJ gets Jake cornered and lands a few strong punches—yeah, there’s always that risk.” Bidalian believes that Jake could stay in the ring with Joshua for eight rounds.

Bidalian humorously recalled his doubts about Paul’s decision to fight ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, saying it seemed a bit wild at the time. Yet, he grew to appreciate Paul’s skills after the match, saying, “He really surprised us with Nate. And then, when he went up against Ben Askren, he performed well. But facing Tyron Woodley was a different story because, well, he was a former UFC champion.”

Looking ahead, Bidalian stated on December 19 that regardless of the match outcome, Paul will remain active in martial arts.

There’s also chatter about a potential fight between Paul and unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in an MMA context, possibly within the PFL MMA League.
