Nicki Minaj Critiques California Governor Gavin Newsom

On Friday, musician Nicki Minaj took to social media to criticize California Governor Gavin Newsom, declaring that his political career is essentially over.

Newsom has often been vocal about his alignment with far-left values and, at the same time, the pushback he faces for advocating a moderation in those stances which have come to dominate recent Democratic politics. For instance, he discussed the divisive topic of transgender athletes competing in women’s sports in an interview with the New York Times, noting, “That’s an issue that no one wants to hear about, because 80 percent of the people listening don’t agree with my position on the matter. But it came from my heart, not just my head. It wasn’t a political evolution.”

He expressed a commitment to supporting transgender children, mentioning he has a transgender godson, and stated, “No governor has signed more pro-trans bills than I have.” While his support for transgender children has garnered both attention and concern, Minaj, who has criticized cancel culture and shown support for the Trump administration over issues affecting Christians in Nigeria, was especially harsh in her remarks.

She exclaimed, “Imagine yourself as a man running to meet transgender children.” Minaj further said, “Not even transgender adults are going to buy into this. Normal adults want to wake up and see their kids healthy, safe, and happy. Not Gav. Gav Nots. GavOUT. Send me the next guy, I’m bored.”

Minaj argued that Newsom’s charm and good looks have made him accustomed to special treatment, but she dismissed any possibilities of a presidential run for him as “impossible.”

“Gavin is a cute boy who’s been given everything to be cute and sexy and smoke cigarettes. Oh, look, he’s sitting there in sneakers and a suit. He thinks he’s Tom Cruise,” she stated, adding that his next role would be unattainable.

She concluded that this marked “the end” of his career and offered some lighthearted advice on what he could do next.

In her comments, she said, “Oh Gavi Pooh, things only get worse for you from here, buddy. This is the end of the road for you, my love. Ride the nearest jet ski and let that beautiful hair fly in the wind. You’ll be happier than a race you can’t win. Enjoy life. Peace.”

When one user responded with a humorous AI caricature of her and political figure JD Vance, she engaged playfully by retweeting it and responding with excitement.

While attempts to reach Newsom for comment went unanswered, Minaj’s remarks have certainly stirred conversations about his future in politics.
