On Friday, Jim Harbaugh kept his comments brief regarding the Sherone Moore scandal. The former head coach at Michigan, now with the Chargers, had brought Moore on board at Michigan back in 2018. When reporters inquired about the situation, he replied, “We’re still processing it. I think a lot of people are still processing what they like.”
Moore spent six seasons with Harbaugh, moving up from tight ends coach to offensive coordinator by 2023, which was Harbaugh’s final year at Michigan. That season, they won a national championship, and Moore stepped in during Harbaugh’s suspension for four games, managing a 4-0 record, including a victory over Ohio State, which led them into the College Football Playoff.
After the championship game, Harbaugh traveled to Los Angeles, speaking positively about Moore during his introductory press conference with the Chargers. He stated, “Sherone is the right person for this job.”
However, the narrative took a sharp turn when Moore was let go from Michigan on Wednesday due to an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. According to prosecutors, he allegedly broke into the apartment of executive assistant Paige Shiver, taking a butter knife and kitchen shears from her kitchen.
During this incident, it’s reported that Moore made a disturbing remark: “I’m going to kill myself, I’m going to let you watch me, my blood is on your hands, you ruined my life.” He now faces a felony charge for burglary along with two misdemeanor counts related to stalking and trespassing.
Moore’s stint as Michigan’s head coach lasted approximately two years, resulting in a 17-8 record. With his departure, interim coach Biff Poggi will take charge of the Wolverines for the Citrus Bowl against the University of Texas on New Year’s Eve.
