Final Meal Request from Georgia Death Row Inmate
In a rather unusual request, Stacey Humphries, a 52-year-old death row inmate in Georgia, has asked for a generous buffet of high-calorie foods for her final meal before her execution scheduled for Wednesday. She’s on death row for the double murder of two women in 2003.
Humphries’s requested feast includes barbecue beef brisket, pork ribs, a bacon double cheeseburger, fries, coleslaw, cornbread, buffalo wings, a meat lover’s pizza, vanilla ice cream, and two lemon-lime sodas, as revealed by the Georgia Department of Corrections.
By the CDC’s BMI standards, Humphries is classified as clinically obese, standing about 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 305 pounds.
Stacey Humphries was convicted of murdering 33-year-old Cindy Williams and 21-year-old Lori Brown. The crimes were committed in November 2003 when she entered a real estate office, held the women at gunpoint, and ultimately shot them after forcing them to divulge personal information, including their bank PINs. She then withdrew $3,000 from their account.
Reports indicate that Williams’s body showed signs of strangulation, with ligature marks and other injuries, while Brown suffered significant throat injuries that suggested she had been strangled. Humphries was later captured following a high-speed chase in Wisconsin. Initially, she feigned memory loss regarding the murders but eventually admitted to understanding the gravity of her actions.
Humphries had previously sought to delay her execution, but her appeals have been denied, including a recent federal judge’s ruling. This upcoming execution will mark the first in Georgia this year. Since the reinstatement of the death penalty nearly 50 years ago, Georgia has executed a total of 77 inmates.
