Comer Claims Clintons’ Methods of Dodging Epstein Subpoenas May Lead to Contempt Charges

Comer Issues Contempt Threat to Clintons Over Epstein Investigation

Kentucky Republican Rep. James Comer announced on Friday that he may pursue contempt charges against former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. This statement comes as part of the House Oversight Committee’s ongoing investigation into their connections to registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In August, the committee subpoenaed the Clintons, scheduling depositions for Bill Clinton on October 14 and Hillary Clinton on October 9. Comer emphasized that if they fail to appear for the rescheduled depositions on December 17 and 18, or do not arrange to appear in early January, they could face contempt charges.

Comer expressed frustration over the delays. “More than four months have passed since Bill and Hillary Clinton were subpoenaed for depositions related to our investigation into the horrific crimes of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell,” he stated. He added that the Clintons have been obstructive and have largely ignored efforts from committee staff to schedule their testimonies.

According to the Oversight Committee, Democrats have also been linked to Epstein, who mingled with high-profile individuals such as Donald Trump and Bill Gates. Epstein was arrested in 2019 and reportedly died by suicide while awaiting trial. Despite his troubled past, he maintained relationships with various influential personalities.

There’s ongoing discourse about Trump’s relationship with Epstein, with some Democrats attempting to link him to the scandal. Notably, Virginia Giuffre, a prominent victim, did not accuse Trump of any wrongdoing in her memoir released posthumously. Lawyer Bradley Edwards, who represented some victims, remarked that Trump had been helpful during legal efforts regarding Epstein, indicating no signs of his involvement in any misconduct.
